Mario Botta. The Space Beyond
a documentary by Loretta Dalpozzo and Michèle Volontè
On behalf of INDA and the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Bangkok, we cordially invite you to the screening of the documentary Mario Botta. The Space Beyond, directed by Loretta Dalpozzo and Michèle Volontè. The screening is organized as part of the Week of the Italian Language in the World 2025, under the title ‘Italophonia: The Italian Language Beyond Borders’.
Mario Botta was born in Mendrisio, Ticino, in 1943. After an apprenticeship in Lugano, he first attended the Art College in Milan and then studied at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice. Directed by Carlo Scarpa and Giuseppe Mazzariol he received his professional degree in 1969. While studying in Venice, he had the opportunity to meet and work for Le Corbusier and Louis I. Kahn. Since the beginning of his career in the 1970s in Lugano, his work has been recognized internationally and honored with prestigious awards, besides being presented in numerous exhibitions and publications. In 1996, he was one of the founders of the Academy of Architecture of the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio, where he still teaches today.
Loretta Dalpozzo is a journalist and documentary filmmaker with extensive experience in covering cultural and social themes for international media.
Michèle Volontè is a director and screenwriter active in documentary cinema, particularly on projects related to art, architecture, and contemporary society.
Maria Sica is the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Bangkok, promoting Italian language and culture in Thailand and fostering cultural exchange between Italy and Southeast Asia.
Davide Contran, lecturer at INDA, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, will be the moderator of the event.
